I am a third year Ph.D student in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania . I belong to the database research group at Penn and work with Prof. Zack Ives. Prior to this, I received my B.Sc in Computer Science and Mathematics (with First Class Honors) in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I was a research intern with Google Research in New York City from June 2012 to Dec 2012, hosted by Cong Yu and Boulos Harb in the structured data group . I worked on the WebTables project, which aims at extraction, annotation and query of structured data sets on the Web. In summer 2008 and summer 2010, I worked as a software development engineer intern in Microsoft China. I am from Shanghai , and thus speak Shanghainese and Mandarin natively. I also speak Cantonese.

I am a big fan of Chess and Chinese Chess (aka Xiangqi). I drawed Grandmaster Ronghua HU , the best Chinese Chess player in history, in a simultaneous game on Aug 5th 2012. Game log is here . I also drawed Grandmaster Furu Cai in a simultaneous game on Oct 14th 2012.
My wife Cathy Tianjiao ZHANG (张天骄) is now a software engineer at Google Moutain View.
