My research interest mainly involves database, network and machine learning. More specifically, data analysis and data management based on solid mathematics, discovering new algorithms and proving the bound or complexity, improving or creating models used in field of machine learning and exploring relationship and potential cooperation between various fields.
Now I am a PhD. Student in University of Pennsylvania, working in NetDB Group.
I have been a research assistant during my undergraduate study in BCMI Lab for two years. My essential understanding of Machine Learning source from there, espicially from discussing on the Book, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning. I must acknowledge my undergraduate advisor, Prof. Bao-Liang Lu and my mentor Lichen Shi. They provided me a lot of help.
I went to HP Labs China as an intern on summer, 2010 and met Prof. Feifei Li and Prof. Ke Yi. We worked on a paper handling some spatial database problem which finally accepted by SIGMOD 2011. Talking and discussing with them is really nice experience. They taught me a lot and showed me sophisticated research skills. Also, I want to show great appreciation to the Director of the Lab, Min Wang. She offered chance to meet such great professors, provided good research surrounding and gave many great suggestions throughout the work.
I was a teaching assistant of course Computer Network Lab when I was an undergradute. The Main Task of the course is to ask the student to implement what they have learned about Computer Network based on some existing basic code. My main responsibility is to give the students guidence and design part of the coding tasks. Please refer to the course link to get more detail.
I have also attended to two PRP projects during my undergradute study. One is about Economics Behavior, the other is about Nuclear Physics. Working on different things definitely brings fresh and different ideas. This inspires me to learn as much as possible and to explore as various as I can.
I am a tall and sporty boy. Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Tennis, Snooker are all my favourites. As a student majoring in Computer Science living with computer everyday, Cyber Competition is also one of my best ways of relaxation.
