Greetings. You've somehow stumbled onto my little niche in the vast organized chaos that is the World Wide Web. Since you're here, I'll be the good host and introduce myself. (By the way - in case you haven't already noticed, I haven't made any real changes to this web page since I first created it in 1995...sorry if it seems a bit dated!) Rumor has it that I work for Verizon Communications in Virginia. My current focus is on architecting and deploying the Fiber to the Premises service (aka FiOS), and some of the issues I'm dabbling with include quality of service, IPTV, VoIP, VoD and home networking. I'm also an adjunct Assistant Professor at Penn in Philadelphia, PA, teaching a graduate telecommunications seminar (TCOM 670). I spent many years at Penn working on my Ph.D. under the guidance of Profs. Jonathan Smith and David Farber. For my dissertation I architected VENUS, a scalable network architecture for a virtual environment. Put simply, I created a big virtual world. Apparently the real world isn't good enough. Oh, and I've written some stuff, in case you're interested in my previous work.

So much for the academic/work stuff. On to more fun things...my non-academic interests include my wife Julie (she made me put that!), Tara (my daughter), skiing, running, poker, humor (especially really bad good puns), Scrabble, foosball, paintball, caffeine, and procrastination. A while back I actually paid to voluntarily jump out of a plane that was over two miles up in the air, all in the name of fun. I also plead guilty to having spent many, many years as a Graduate Fellow (RA to the uninitiated...) in Hill House, and was the Chair of the Graduate And Professional Student Assembly (GAPSA) at Penn a while ago. The things I do to avoid real work.....

Friendly email is always welcome. Friendly fire is not.
