Girl From The North Country

To the tune of "Scarborough Fair" (Traditional) (tune by Martin Carthy?) which Dylan probably learned from British singer Martin Carthy. Dylan said he had had this song in mind for years before writing it down in late 1962 ("No Direction Home" by Robert Shelton, page 155). In "For Dave Glover" (1963 Newport Folk Festival programme) Dylan wrote "Without 'Barbara Allen' there'd be no 'Girl From The North Country'.
