Requirements:

• If a word begins with a capital letter, its translation should begin with a capital letter.
  • From the example in the assignment: When becomes Enwhay.
• "Words" contain letters, apostrophes, and (optionally) hyphens.
  • From the example in the assignment: cat's becomes at'scay.
• Any and all nonword characters are copied unchanged to the translation.
  • Example: Yes, he spent $1000!!! becomes Esyay, ehay entspay $1000!!!
  • Every character is either a word character or a nonword character; if you are making special cases for blanks or commas, you are doing something wrong. Your code has to work for all possible characters.

Correct programs do not, of course, get into infinite loops. If you are not careful, and if you write your program a certain way, it might get into an infinite loop when it encounters a word with no vowels. Just be sure to test for this case.

Suggestions:

• You cannot do a perfect "decoding" of Pig Latin, so don't worry about it. For example, opstay could mean either stop or tops, and there's no way to choose between them.
• If a word ends in hay, discard those letters. For example, aracterchay becomes haracterc (oops--oh, well.)
• Otherwise, either:
  • Drop the ay and move one consonant to the front, so opstay would become tops; or
• Move all the consonants before the ay, move them to the front, and drop the ay. So opstay would become psto (oops again!)
• It's okay to always treat w and y as consonants.
  • If you would like to do slightly better than that, treat y as a vowel when it's at the end of a word.
  • For example, sky in Pig Latin becomes yskay. (This can even be decoded correctly, back to sky.)
• If a word has no vowels (for example, sky or Mrs. or gzzph), probably the best thing to do is to just add hay to the end.
