[abstract/bibtex, paper, slides, Matlab code, citations] This paper talks about how to use matrix factorization (linear dimensionality reduction) to represent and predict network distances. Comparing to the "network coordinates", this model is more accurate and flexible, in the sense that it can represent distances that violate triangle inequality or symmetric properties.
