One way to create a facial model is through the use of an image library which consists of a source library of predetermined images. The FACE project [5] uses this technique to display and animate a face model on-screen, providing a visual representation of facial muscle activity monitored during surgery. It uses bitmaps of faces in neutral and extreme positions, and muscles that are overlayed on the faces that contract and relax based on muscle voltage activity.
