Researchers are developing facial models for use in videophones (such as portable videophones) that must transmit facial images over low-bandwidth channels. A photorealistic model of the speaker is captured and transmitted to the receiving station where it is reconstructed at low bit-rates to produce a realistic animated image of the speaker's face.
