Mug shot of Björn Knutsson

Björn Knutsson's home page

I am an Associate Professor of Communication Systems at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. My home page will migrate there eventually, and this page will cease to be updated. I can now be reached at: spambot protected - graphics only, sorry

Until 2005, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Computer & Information Science (the Distributed Systems Laboratory) where I was working on the SPYCE and TIME-DC projects. I also helped coordinate the Penn Security Seminar series.

My main areas of interest are distributed systems, (mobile) data communications and the practical aspects of network and operating system security. Here's my list of publications.

Information about some of the research projects I participated in within the context of SPYCE and TIME-DC can be found on the following project presentation pages: Server Directed Transcoding, DHARMA: Distributed Home Agent for Robust Mobile Access, System Support for Massively Multiplayer Online Games and MrVM - Composed Virtual Machines.

I've created vm-bogofilter.el, an interface between the VM mail reader and the bogofilter Bayesian spam filter. The latest version is 1.1.4 (Feb 27, 2006). Archive.   I've made some of my patches to the CTWM window manager available on my CTWM patch page

For those who are ISO-8859-1 challenged, Bjorn Knutsson is an accepted alternative spelling of my name that I prefer to Bjoern Knutsson, which is also common. For English-speakers, B-yearn Canuteson would be a fairly good approximation of the correct pronounciation. But don't worry, I don't take offense when my name gets mangled in text or speech.

This page is overdue for replacement, but I have a couple of even older pages still laying around: My old home page Björn Knutsson @ DoCS (at my alma mater Uppsala University's Department of Information Technology) and Björn Knutsson @ Update (at the Update computer club). They're almost certainly out-of-date.
