Requirements:
Digital Media Design (DMD) is an interdisciplinary major in
the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Penn. It combines
a major in computer science with Communication theory courses
from the Annenberg School, and Fine Arts courses from the Graduate
School of Fine Arts. It was designed for students who have an
interest in computer graphics, animation, and the design of virtual
reality environments. As DMD majors, students will complete a
Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree which includes 6 courses
in Mathematics, 4 courses in natural science such as Physics,
as well as courses in Psychology, 13 Computer Science courses,
7 social science, humanities, and technically based courses, and
2 electives. In addition, DMD students will take 5 courses in
Communications and 5 courses in Fine Arts. DMD students, like
many engineers at Penn, take 40 courses to earn their degree and
yes, this can be done in 4 years, with time for social science
and humanities electives in writing, music or whatever suits their
interests! There is even time to study abroad or do a dual degree!
